Vision and Philosophy

The proper use of technology should be incorporated into America's school system. In the lead of this movement, must be the educational leaders that head up districts across the nation. Instead of creating policy that forbids some technologiues in the classroom, time should be spent on creating policies that contribute to the proper use of technology by staff and students. technology is an unmistakable part of our present and future. To successfully prepare students for the workforce of today, technology must be at the center of our curriculum.

Web Pages


To develop a one stop shopping spot for valuable information, a web page is a great option. Web pages allow administrators to be more accessable to their constituents. There are applications available that allow users to create sophisticated web pages at little to no cost. If web pages are constructed proplerly, it can save time for all involved. Simple questions can be answered, communications can be clarified, and access to any data or information can be found through links, can all be found with a click of the mouse.

What's Better than a PowerPoint?

Have you ever attended a conference and swore you would hurt somebody if you had to sit through another boring POwerPoint? If you are like the rest of us, you answered yes. Luckily there are substitutes to the PowerPOint, which allows information to be dissemiated to a large number of people efficiently and effectively. Some substitutes include Prezi's, podcasts, video clips uploaded to Youtube, just to name a few. Be creative, find new ways to draw interest to the information you have to present.

Harnessing Technology

Budgets are at the center of concern for educational leaders. Although there is an initial cost to the addition of technology, it more than pays for itself over time when utilized properly. One important resource that con not be changed is time. The most valuable resource technology can give a staff is efficiency. When used properly, technology can help to streamline an organization. In this era, in which resources are scarce, the aquisition of efficient, cost effective resources should be the primary concern of administrators.

Specific Vocabulary

An administrator must lead through action. If it is required for staff and students to use technology in their daily routine; so to must the administrator. To lead the way, administrators must be utilize the technology used in the organization. Because technology is continually improving and changing, educational leaders must also remain diligent about educating themselves. on future developments that may enhance their learning environment.

Cloud Computing

Administrators should use technology to communicate with staff, students, parents, and peers. Cloud computing has given unprecidented access to applications at little to no cost to the user, which will give high quality capabilites to a large audience. Educational leaders can use these capabilties to effectively communicate with all constituants.

Communication

Effectively communicating the role and implication of technology in the classroom is an important aspect of an administrator's job. As an administrator, diligence must be taken to communicate to all stakeholders, including staff, students and parents, about the proper use of technology. As pointed out by Wagner, students must have skills that enable them to communicate with a wide variety of people both orally and virtually.

Online Learning


At the center of the information age is the Internet. Information is updated multiple times every hour, which leads to infinite amount of data available to anybody with a computer. Educational leaders should continually be in tune with changes in technology, and use these new technologies to create efficient learning environments. Students should also be taught how to navigate through all of the information they have available to them.

Leadership

To successfully lead a staff into the future of education, it is up to the administrators to continually educate themselves in the advancement of technology. It should not be the duty of administration to develop policies that deter the use of technology; moreover, it should be the job of the administration to devlop an environment which fosters innovation and creativity with technology at its core. Employers are looking for workers that have skills that fall outside the traditional curriculum. This should be remebered as educational leaders look to the future.

Technology Integration

How can schools use technology to allow them to achieve future goals as an organization and create students prepared for the workforce of tomorrow?

In the past, schools have been reluctant to allow new technologies into the classroom. But new research is showing that creating an updated learning environment gives students the tools they need to be successful in today's workplace. 21st Century workforce requirements can not be met with an out of date, traditional teaching styles. It is up to the educators of today to focus their attention on creating a technology rich environment.
